Laura Dern, floating out of the Four Seasons Hotel. Bev Hills. Just before midnight. L.D. appeared resplendent and glowing in a long black gown and luscious wrap. The lass bid a warm adieu to her equally foxy companion, Ben Harper, who dazzled in a dark western-style suit with beaded red roses on the jacket and pants. The tasty two were clearly alone together but were careful to avoid any extra-mushy public doings that would resolve whether the pair are officially coupled. If they're not, maybe they should be, as they looked utterly blissful..
From Billy Bob To Ben, Laura's Shoe Is On The Other Foot - Videoeta.com - May 24, 2001
Laura Dern is set to walk down the aisle in June with fiance, musician Ben Harper.
Just over a year ago, Ms. Dern had much to say about her longtime boyfriend Billy Bob Thornton and his affair with Hollywood vixen Angelina Jolie. This time, the tables are turned. It's Laura herself who is waiting for the ink to dry on her boyfriend's divorce papers. Sources say as soon as the divorce is final, Laura and Ben will say 'I do.' The couple plan to have their wedding in the dream home they just purchased together in Hollywood Hills. Moving right along, aren't they? At least if this doesn't work out, a house can be sold. Angelina's "Billy Bob" tattoo is a different story.

Ben Harper certainly is going through a life change. Not only is the "Waiting On An Angel" singer separated from Joanna, his wife of four year, but he's planning on tying the knot with Billy Bob Thornton's ex (and "Jurassic Park" thespian) Laura Dern. The actress is currently house-hunting "in the $1.5million dollar range" in Beverly Hills for the two of them. But unbeknownst to the blonde beauty, the Hendrix heir apparent told a Sydney, Australia newspaper this week that he wants to live in Australia, explaining that, "It's a mystical place with a lifestyle I love."

Laura Dern has found love again after she was cruelly dumped by Billy Bob Thornton - in the arms of rocker Ben Harper. The couple were spotted dining out in Santa Monica, California, America, before Christmas, and now Harper has filed for divorce from his wife. Dern's best friend Meg Ryan introduced the pair after hearing Harper was planning to get divorced, and the new relationship has put a smile back on the actress's face after she learned her now ex, Thornton, had got married last year while she was shooting a movie. She admits, "That was like sudden death." Harper has bought the actress a $2,000 necklace from her favorite jewellers, Sage in Beverly Hills as a mark of his love for her. He told staff there the gift was a present for "the special lady in his life."

October 30th, 2000 - Miramax site concerning "Daddy & Them"
Contractually, Miramax cannot release "Daddy and Them" until "All the Pretty Horses" comes out -- and the latter film has been delayed nearly a year while Thornton finishes editing it. (One also imagines he has lost interest in finishing "Daddy and Them" since nearly every scene shows him with his ex-girlfriend, Laura Dern.) Miramax has "All the Pretty Horses" slated to open nationally on Christmas Day, and "Daddy and Them" sometime next spring.

Busy Laura Dern has prescribed for herself “Novocain,” a black comedy in which she plays the dental-hygienist fiancée of dentist Steve Martin. “I emulate Farrah somewhat in terms of my physical persona,” she says, alluding to her sister Farrah Fawcett in “Dr. T and the Women.” The other woman is Helena Bonham Carter. A couple of weeks ago, Dern wrapped “Focus” in Toronto with William H. Macy, David Paymer and Meat Loaf. Laura will be featured in next month's "Talk" Magazine, speaking publicly  for the first time about her breakup with Billy Bob Thorton. "For no one has there been any closure, or any clarity."
